Medical Marijuana Certification in Florida
A telehealth evaluation with an independent Florida physician to find out whether you qualify for Florida's medical marijuana program.
Get startedWhat is a medical marijuana certification?
In Florida, a patient must be certified by a qualified physician before they can register with the state's Medical Marijuana Use Registry and buy medical marijuana from a licensed Florida dispensary. Through Couch Spaceship, you meet an independent Florida physician by telehealth, with no in-person visit required.
A certification is not a prescription, and it is not guaranteed. The physician decides whether you have a qualifying condition under Florida law and whether medical marijuana is appropriate for you.
How it works
- Submit an inquiry. Fill out the short new patient form. Our care team will contact you within one business day.
- Meet an independent physician by telehealth. The new patient visit is $80. Renewal visits are $75.
- If certified, complete state registration. After certification, you apply for your Medical Marijuana Use Registry ID card through the State of Florida. State fees and processing times are set by the state and are separate from our visit fee.
- Purchase from a licensed Florida dispensary. Products and prices are set by the dispensary, and your physician's certification determines what is allowed.
Qualifying conditions
Florida law lists the conditions that qualify for medical marijuana use. They include, among others, cancer, epilepsy, glaucoma, HIV/AIDS, post-traumatic stress disorder, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Crohn's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and terminal conditions, as well as certain chronic pain and conditions of the same kind or class. The list is set by statute and can change, so please refer to the Florida Office of Medical Marijuana Use for the current rules.
Only the physician can determine whether you qualify.
Good to know
- Medical marijuana is legal under Florida law but is treated differently under federal law. Do not take it across state lines.
- Medical marijuana can impair judgment and coordination. Do not drive or operate machinery while impaired.
- Talk to your physician about other medications you take, and about any history of substance misuse or mental health conditions.
- Workplace policies may apply to you regardless of certification.
