What to Expect
Every person's journey is unique, but here's how the process typically unfolds.
Free Initial Consultation
Your journey begins with a complimentary 30-minute phone or video call with our care team. This is a casual, no-pressure conversation — not a medical appointment. We'll learn about your history, the treatments you've tried, and your goals. You can ask us anything, and we'll give you an honest assessment of whether ketamine therapy may be a good fit.
- Review of your mental health and medical history
- Discussion of previous treatments and outcomes
- Overview of what ketamine therapy involves
- Honest candidacy assessment — we'll tell you if it's not the right fit
- Q&A — no question is too basic or too detailed
Medical Evaluation & Screening
If the consultation goes well and you'd like to proceed, we'll schedule a comprehensive medical evaluation. This appointment — conducted by the independent physician or nurse practitioner — reviews your full health history, current medications, and any contraindications. We obtain your informed consent and answer all remaining clinical questions.
- Detailed medical and psychiatric history review
- Blood pressure, heart rate, and general health assessment
- Review of all current medications and supplements
- Contraindication screening
- Informed consent process — we ensure you fully understand the treatment
Your Personalized Treatment Protocol
Based on your evaluation, the physician designs a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. No two protocols are the same — dosing, frequency, and session support are all calibrated to your weight, history, and the condition being treated. We'll walk you through the plan before you commit to anything.
- Personalized dosing (weight-based, adjusted by response)
- Session frequency and scheduling (typically 3–4 sessions per week from a 15-session monthly supply)
- Prescription filled by a licensed compounding pharmacy
- Medication shipped discreetly and directly to your home
- Coordination with your existing psychiatrist or therapist if applicable
- Pre-session preparation instructions (setting up your space, etc.)
Your At-Home Sessions
This is where the couch earns its name. At your scheduled time, you'll dissolve your sublingual lozenge, put on your eye mask and headphones, and settle in. Within 15–30 minutes most patients enter a gentle dissociative state — floating, dreamlike, often deeply introspective. The journey lasts about an hour.
- Set up a quiet, comfortable space — bed, couch, or recliner all work well
- Eye mask and curated music playlist are highly recommended
- Have a trusted support person present with you during the session
- Your care team is available by phone during business hours with any questions before or after a session
- Do not drive or operate machinery for the rest of the day after a session
- Allow at least 2 hours of unscheduled time per session day
Reassessment & Maintenance Planning
After completing your initial series, we conduct a thorough reassessment of your response. Many patients continue with monthly prescriptions as long as they're benefiting. Others taper down to fewer sessions per week or discontinue once a stable improvement is reached. We'll develop a long-term maintenance plan that fits your life and supports your ongoing wellbeing.
- Full symptom and response reassessment after initial course
- Discussion of ongoing maintenance needs
- Booster session scheduling if indicated
- Referrals and coordination for complementary care
- Long-term wellness planning
Setting Up Your Space at Home
A little preparation goes a long way toward making your at-home session safe, comfortable, and effective.

- Silence your phone and let household members know not to disturb you

- Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before treatment
- Do not drive or make important decisions for the rest of the day after your session
